Basic Keelboat River Sailing Certification Course

An intensive course designed to produce confident skippers able to sail our 22’ keelboats in the Potomac River. This is a great class for those new to sailing, and it offers a perfect refresher for those who have experience sailing but may be out of practice. It is possible to earn both ASA 101 and 103 by taking this course but the certifications are not awarded automatically. Those without previous sailing exposure or do not study the course materials may require additional training to successfully compete ASA 103. It is highly encouraged that you sign up for a Chesapeake Bay day sail after completing the ASA 103 course to familiarize yourself with a 25-35’ keelboat. We are committed to working with our members to achieve qualifications. Cost includes first year American Sailing Association (ASA) membership.

Pentagon Sailing Club offers this course at a discounted rate for active duty enlisted members of the Armed Forces at pay grades E-5 and lower. We will review credentials of those who use this registration type.

PSC Members may use up to 2 FVSMs for this class. FVSMs are worth $50.00 each for this class. Please check the FVSM spreadsheet to make sure you have FVSM(s) available before choosing either of these pricing options.
