A community of women supporting women in sailing

WOMEN on WATER (WOW), a Pentagon Sailing Club (PSC) group, is open to female PSC members and meets on select Thursdays and Saturdays, and occasional Fridays and Sundays at the Capital Cove Marina, Washington, D.C., on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB). After each sail, WOW members gathers at the marina's waterfront restaurant, The Slip Inn. For further information, please contact Women On Water Commodore, Joanne Spahn.

Please note that WoW does not offer ASA courses, but becoming a PSC member allows you to sign up for ASA courses.

2026 WOMEN on WATER BAY SAILING DATES

This season PSC is coordinating WoW sails on the Bay.  The following are the first few dates for scheduled sails with registration coming soon. As the season gets started we will be assessing members' interest in Bay sailing.

April 18 - Day Sail - ASA 101/103 required (max crew 8)

April 19 - Day Sail - ASA 101/103 required (max crew 8)

July 25 - 26 - Overnight Sail (max crew 5)

Note: WoW Bay sails will be offered at a somewhat higher cost than the River sails.

What is the mission of the PSC WOMEN on WATER group?

Our mission is to create a community of women supporting women who sail. The group focuses on helping each member grow towards their personal sailing goals at any level while providing an opportunity to get to know one another through socials following WOW sails.

When do you sail?

We sail two to three times a month during the sailing season (April through September) on select Thursdays and Saturdays or Sundays. On Thursdays, WOW sails from 5:30 pm until dusk. On Saturday and Sunday mornings, WOW sails for two to three hours beginning at 9:00 am. After the sail, members meets at the marina's waterfront restaurant, The Slip Inn.

Where do you meet?

We meet on the Capital Cove Marina docks, where the Pentagon Sailing Club moors a fleet of Catalina Capri 22s. The marina is on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), 90 Giovannoli Way, Washington, D.C. 20032. DIRECTIONS

Do I need a military ID or CAC card to access Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB)?

No. Instead, you will need a DBIDS card. AFTER completing a Pentagon Sailing Club membership application, you may apply for a DBIDS card. W

Do I need to know how to sail?

Nope, novices are welcome! WOMEN on WATER (WOW) supports all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned sailors. The group aims to help each member reach their goals, whether working on the basics, focusing on specific techniques, or simply getting away to relax on the water with a phenomenal group of people.

How do I join WOMEN on WATER?

To join WOMEN on WATER (WOW), first, RENEW OR APPLY for a Pentagon Sailing Club membership. Next, REGISTER for the 2025 WOW Sailing Season, then SIGN UP for a WOW Social Sail.

Is there a local store where I can purchase sailing equipment?

Absolutely! The Pentagon Sailing Club's go-to local retailer is West Marine.
